The American dream is a dream that anyone, regardless of who you are, can attain as long as they focus and strive for their own version of success.
I do not think the American dream has changed. Everyone I know has a dream they want to accomplish in the future or a dream they had already accomplished. The American dream is both positive and negative today. There are people who push themselves to reach their dream and others who bring themselves or others down. Having people in your lives such as coaches, teammates, and even our president is responsible for the change in one’s attitude toward their American dream.
Today’s society and culture have a negative impact on people’s attitudes toward the American Dream. Most people assimilate to the typical “American culture’ and no one is brave enough to be different or take risks. Nowadays, people are very opinionated and others hide in their shadows to stay away from being judged.
I feel that people are optimistic about the future of the American dream but at the same time, they are letting it die by not making an effort to push themselves to reach that goal.
I feel like my dad has made his American dream come true because his goal was to always motivate my brother and me to stay active and become the best people we can be. I feel like he made it because my brother and I are both good athletes and have never touched drugs or alcohol. We do not curse and are polite and use manners. My dad always has a smile on his face and always pushes us to become a little uncomfortable in order to become better.
My American dream is to be able to get into my good college. My whole life I had wanted to be able to represent in track and field or diving. If I achieved this goal, I would push myself harder to be the best version of myself I can be. I will push myself at my own pace without comparing myself to others. When I achieve this dream, I want to help other young athletes to do the same. I want to inspire others by sharing how I captured my life-long dream.
After I go to college, I want to get a job as a sports psychologist with a steady income. I want to study and learn more about psychology and the human brain. I want to prove to myself I can help motivate others to accomplish their dreams like I did my own, and then I will know I have inspired others.
